Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich To Become Available For Meizu M9 And MX

I know that many of you would like to know which is the next Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich stop as this new platform continues to march its way across the market so quickly. There are some confirmation which came earlier in this week through the mouth of Meizu Chief Jack Wong stating that both M9 and MX mobile devices will upgrade to 4.0 Android Ice Cream Sandwich in the near future. He also has confirmed the fact that the release of the MX’s phone remains unchanged.
Unfortunately there were no other specifications offered. Although Mr: Wong explained that the release of MX mobile was delayed due to the company continue efforts to build-in a sharper, camera with flash within the smartphone, anyway we will keep you posted with the latest news regarding their products release.
It’s clear that will be a complete rush from Original design manufacturers such as Meizu and Huawei to build mobile devices for the global market so it looks like the Meizu M9 and the upcoming Meizu MX will be shipped with the new Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. They will try their best to upgrade to the new platform in a timely manner, as the MX release remains unchanged and the company is confident that December is the month for launching the upcoming 4-inch Android mobile. They expressly confirmed that they are sticking to the plan of December release, which is pretty great.
Their CEO said that the MX comes in two variants one is the 16GB version and comes with a dual core chip and the other one is the 32GB version that features a quad core beast. Now if you are curios with what these phones have to offer, check the following details. These two mobiles offer front and rear cameras, the rear one has 8 MP with Led Flash, removable back cover, a port for USB. The pretty cool stuff is that the handset is going to be one of the thinnest ever. The 16GB MX will have a price tag of $625 and the 32GB brother has tag price of $780 but here comes the real deal question, why so long till the release.
The company is trying to make the phone’s camera as perfect as possible, when asked to compare the upcoming MX with the recently released iPhone 4S. They are pursuing the best possible photo quality and looking to wait for the Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 camera. But here comes the heavy question, why pay that much for Meizu MX when you can have the Xiaomi mobile device which is way cheaper and offers almost the same specs.
Anyway if you were to ask us we fully recommend you Xiaomi, why to pay that much when you can have almost the same in terms of quality and specs with the Xiaomi handset.

EU Commission To Investigate The Patent Dispute Between Samsung And Apple

The iPhone 4S was launched on the Australian market last month and since then Samsung has been trying to get Apple’s product banned. This moved forward and it seems that the conflict between the two huge companies will never end as more developments appear almost every day.
The South Korean giant claims that three of its 3G wireless patents have been violated by Apple in Australia. The company wants to have access to the iPhone 4S source code and they also want to get detailed information about the contracts that Apple has with the most important mobile services in Australia including Optus, Vodafone and Telstra.
Apple defends by saying that Samsung have agreed in the past to licence the three mobile patents to Apple under the FRAND terms (Fair, Reasonable, and Non-Discriminatory) standard. Samsung stated that they did agreed with this matter, but the agreement doesn’t apply to Australia and Apple is using the patents illegally.
The Korean company is trying to obtain the source code of Apple’s newest product, but Apple is definitely trying to block the move.
Now it seems that the European Commission is very interested in this case and this means that things could end up badly for Samsung as the European Commission want’s to investigate if the case that Samsung has against Apple is violating the EU competition lays and this means trouble for Samsung.
Until now, this appears to be the most important development between Samsung and Apple and considering that the two companies have had a dispute for a long time, this is really a big deal. However, things could go wrong for Samsung because depending on what the investigation will reveal, the South Korean Company could be forced to redraw the majority of its claims against their American competitor.
In other words, Samsung did licensed the patents to Apple in certain countries, this is sure thing. What’s interesting is that the company decided to sue Apple for the same patents used in other states. Their biggest problem is that the European union can end up disapproving their action.

HTML5 adoption might hurt Apple's profit, research finds

The widespread adoption of HTML5 for Web apps could cut Apple's operation profit growth by 30%, with Microsoft, Google and carriers benefiting, Bernstein Research predicted.
The financial researchers envision widespread adoption of HTML5 will affectiPhones and iPads, reducing margins for the former and lowering market share for the latter.
"Rough scenario analyses says that even a modest impact in each of these areas could cut our estimated Op. profit growth forecast for Apple through 2015 by about 30%," senior analyst Toni Sacconaghi Jr. wrote in a research paper issued last week. This could reduce the compound annual growth rate (CGAR) from roughly 19% today to 13%.
According to Sacconaghi, the emergence of HTML5 apps is "an important, longer-term issue for Apple investors to monitor." HTML5 technology has the potential to undermine profit margins and market share in Apple's iPhone and iPad franchises.
HTML5 is appealing to developers and businesses because it can be used to build Web apps that target all mobile platforms at once. This is more cost-effective and less labor-intensive than building different native apps for iOS, Android and Windows Phone.
It also allows developers and publishers to circumnavigate the 30% commission charged by Apple and Google for selling apps through their app stores. Furthermore, Apple also takes a 30% cut on subscriptions sold through the App Store. Both cuts could be obviated with HTML5-based apps, the report pointed out.
These are the main reasons why Amazon, the Financial Times and Twitter have each announced Web apps. Executives from Apple, Microsoft, Google and Facebook have all praised HTML5's virtues, Bernstein Research noted.
Jeffrey Hammond, principal analyst at Forrester Research, also thinks HTML5 will have an impact on the mobile ecosystem: "With more and more companies investing in HTML 5 clients -- or even hybrid apps that combine HTML 5 and native code -- what you will see is a reduction in porting costs to support other platforms like Android and Windows 8. This will erode, but not eliminate Apple's first mover advantage," he said in an email responding to questions.
"The primary beneficiaries will be Microsoft and Google and their OEMs. Examples of companies taking this approach include LinkedIn, Salesforce, the Financial Times and Amazon. There are many others as well," Hammond said.
Bernstein's research also painted a possible rosy future for Microsoft and Google. HTML5 apps could help to neutralize Android's advantage in third-party developer support. Also, "commoditization could lead to lower pricing, which could in turn cause some unit elasticity, potentially benefitting Google," according to Bernstein's research.
Carriers in turn could benefit from reduced handset prices and as a result, lower handset subsidies. The researchers expect that HTML5 apps would also cache data, which means that data usage is not likely to increase and the average revenue per user (ARPU) would not be affected. The increase of HTML5 usage would, however, have an overall negative impact on mobile device makers.

The Fastest Mobile Networks 2011

With smartphone innovation moving at a breakneck pace, new tablets hitting the market all the time, and an increasing number of people using cellular modems and mobile hotspots to get online on the go, access to speedy data coverage is becoming more essential every day.
But you shouldn't believe the hype: All "4G" is not the same. In a 21-city test across the United States, we found that Verizon's new 4G LTE network is much faster than other mobile Web options, with speeds that often exceed home Internet connections.
There's no question that 4G is spreading across the nation, but there's a lot of confusion over what 4G exactly is. AT&T, MetroPCS, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon Wireless aren't just using varied technologies; sometimes they're implementing the same technology very differently. So we sent six drivers on a cross-country road trip in Ford cars with lots of mobile phones and custom software designed by network testing firm Sensorly to see just how fast these 4G Internet connections really are.
Last year we tested with laptops. For our second annual test, we switched to phones, to more accurately reflect how Americans are using the mobile Internet. According to research firm NPD, as of the first quarter of 2011, more than half of all new mobile phones purchased in the U.S. were smartphones, and analysts have projected that will grow.
We didn't test voice quality or dropped calls, The tests for this story were all about mobile Internet. We ran more than 140,000 tests in 21 cities. Not all the networks were available in all the cities, as you'll see on the individual city pages. Most notably, cities generally have either Cricket or MetroPCS as a local option.
We didn't test coverage either, but our technology partner Sensorly does. Head over to the company's website, or download the Sensorly app from the Android Market to see crowdsourced coverage maps for all the major U.S. mobile carriers, enhanced with the data from our test drives.
Bear in mind, mobile networks are constantly changing, and almost always for the better. And because speeds vary based on tower location, network load, device used, and even the weather, we can't predict performance in a specific location; rather, we're giving a snapshot of a few days' worth of usage in several locations across a metro area. So without further delay, we give you the winners:

Northeast: Verizon 4G
Verizon's new 4G network covers many of the Northeast's top metro areas, including Boston, the Hartford-New York-Philadelphia corridor, Pittsburgh, and the Baltimore-Washington corridor. We tested in Pittsburgh, Boston, New York, Philadelphia and Washington DC. In those areas, while T-Mobile's HSPA+ 21 network is also speedy, Verizon's 4G is by far the fastest. Outside the metro areas, AT&T offered the best balance of speed and coverage.

Fastest Mobile Networks: Northeast

Southeast: Verizon 4G
In the Southeast, we tested in Nashville, Charlotte, Atlanta, Jacksonville, and Miami/Fort Lauderdale. Verizon's 4G network came out the fastest in every city, while outside the cities, AT&T and T-Mobile virtually tied for best results. Pick Verizon for speed and AT&T for coverage.

Fastest Mobile Networks: SouthEast

Central: Verizon 4G
Our Central region included our only city without Verizon 4G, Kansas City. We also tested in Detroit, Chicago, St. Louis, Oklahoma City and Dallas. Even with a zero score for Kansas City, Verizon 4G was the fastest network for the region. (It also covers a large area around Chicago and in central Oklahoma.) The Central cities were some of the nation's fastest, overall. We saw leading speeds in Chicago, Dallas, and Detroit.

Fastest Mobile Networks: Central

West: Verizon 4G
Verizon's 4G system was the fastest in the West as well. We tested in the states of Arizona, California, and New Mexico, as we couldn't get our drivers as far as the Northwest. Verizon 4G won every city it was in thanks to its stellar download speeds. Outside the cities, AT&T delivered the fastest connections, but Verizon's much slower 3G network was the most reliable.

Fastest Mobile Networks: West

Rural America: AT&T
For us, "rural America" included everywhere we drove that wasn't in one of our 21 metro areas—not only wide-open spaces in Arizona, but mid-sized cities like Macon, Georgia and Midland, Texas.

Fastest Mobile Networks: Rural America
The new 4G networks are generally polka dots on the U.S. map, or bubbles around the nation's major cities. In the spaces between them, AT&T won the crown for the best balance of speed and consistency on its 3G, HSPA 7.2 network.

Nationwide: Verizon 4G
Overall, Verizon's LTE system is remarkably faster than the technologies AT&T, MetroPCS, Sprint and T-Mobile are currently using for "4G." Even with one hand tied behind its back—a 20-percent penalty to its speed score for its lack of rural coverage—Verizon's new 4G network trounced the other carriers. In many areas, it was even faster than some DSL or cable connections.

Fastest Mobile Networks: National

30 Days With Windows Phone 7

It won't be easy for Windows Phone 7 to win me over. I love my iPhone 4. Before that, I loved my iPhone 3GS. But, there was a point--years ago, before I switched to the iPhone--when I used to be a devoted Windows Mobile user, and specifically a dedicated fan of the HTC Windows Mobile devices.

This isn't the first time I have used Windows Phone 7, though. Last November I switched to an HTC Surround for a couple of weeks. I wasn't impressed. I found both the Windows Phone 7 OS, and the HTC hardware disappointing and I was glad to switch back to my iPhone 4.
But, it is 10 months later now, and Microsoft has made a number of improvements to the mobile OS. A major update dubbed "NoDo" was released in March of this year which added copy and paste functionality--among other things--to Windows Phone 7.
I'd like to be able to review "Mango"--the new Windows Phone 7.5 update. But, devices like the HTC Titan and HTC Radar that are built with Windows Phone 7.5 are just being announced and aren't yet available. It would be nice if HTC issued an update for devices like the HD7S to upgrade it to the latest Windows Phone version, but I won't hold my breath.
Speaking of HTC, that brings me to one very important distinction I need to make up front about the 30 Days With Windows Phone 7 series. The goal of the series is to work with Microsoft's mobile OS, and explore its features and capabilities. One thing that makes platforms like Windows Phone 7 and Android unique from iOS, though, is the diversity of hardware.
An iPhone is an iPhone, and Apple goes to great lengths to deliver a consistent user experience by maintaining control of the iOS software, and the iPhone hardware that runs it. Contrast that with Windows Phone 7 or Android, where a variety of smartphones are available from a diverse array of manufacturers, and your mileage may vary greatly depending on the hardware you use to run the mobile OS.
I did not like the HTC Surround, but so far I am pretty impressed with the HD7S. But, the series is about Windows Phone 7, not HTC, so I will try not to focus on issues that are hardware or HTC specific. Where it is relevant, I will point out things that are unique--whether good, bad, or indifferent--about the HD7S, and I will also mention features and capabilities included in the upcoming "Mango" update.
I hope you will check back each day and follow along as I go through the 30 Days With Windows Phone 7 journey. I look forward to your comments and feedback.
